How to Create an AI Character

A memorable AI character comes from a few specific details, not a paragraph of adjectives. This guide covers persona, appearance and setup, with a prompt structure you can reuse.

Write a persona that behaves

Give a name and one defining trait with a visible consequence.
State how they speak — clipped, warm, teasing — so the voice is consistent.
Name what they want in the scene, not a list of hobbies.
Leave room for change: a want gives the story somewhere to go.

Choose a look

You can describe the character in words, or upload an image you already have and let the AI read the look from it. An image tends to anchor the scene art more consistently across turns.

Set the opening scene

Put the character somewhere specific, with a reason to be there and a tension to resolve. A concrete first scene — a hotel lobby at midnight, a server room after hours — gives the AI more to work with than an abstract premise.
